Hiking the Napali Coast

At the end of the road on the north shore of Kauai is where the Naapli coast starts. From this point is the begining of the Kalalau Trail, which is an epic 11 mile treak, one way. Near the Kalalau trail head is Ke'e Beach and Tunnels. Surfing at Tunnels beach is one of the best surf spots on Kauai. Kalalau Trail is a mysterious place where the ancient Hawaiians first lived, suriving off the land and the ocean. There are several different hikes along the Kalalau Trail, the Napali view is only 1 mile from Ke'e Beach. Hanakapia Beach is 2 miles in from Ke'e and is full of steep switch backs. The next point is 6 miles in, which is the Napali High Point. The entire 11 mile Kalaua Trail is very tough and only for the expert or very seasoned hikers. You have to make sure to plan well ahead and bring plenty of water and food for at least 2 days.
